Student STAR Awards: The Motivation Factor
Available for High Schools in 2008

Many students do not take the STAR test seriously, particularly at the high school level. By then they have learned that nothing particularly bad happens to them if they do not perform at a stellar level.

Teachers have found it effective simply to point out a past score to a student and say “Hey Tony, what happened?” Contact with students over their scores is critical, but it is also time-consuming.

This student data report is designed to reduce administrator and teacher time in motivating students on the STAR. Using your STAR data file, we calculate award designations for students based on their STAR performance.

Features

  • Students receive award designations. Some schools award students based on these reward designations (e.g. a number of raffle tickets based on the award designation or parties based on performance). It is up to the administration to determine whether these "awards" will have any more than psychological value.
  • Students can quickly see their own STAR performance.
  • Student STAR performance is listed and displayed graphically.
  • The graphical display of the STAR performance shows students how close they are to the next award designation.
  • Each report displays the number of awards districtwide (or schoolwide, if the order is for one school).
  • The report can be linked to your roster and distributed easily in class.
  • The report can include home mailing addresses and be mailed home to parents.
